We adore this type of cookbook which, yes, has beautiful Sri Lankan recipes, both traditional and re-imagined. But also, connecting stories of Muslim street food, the art of grating coconut, an ode to curry leaves, and what to expect at a Tamil party (Snacks! Loud music!). This book lures you in with delicious food: curries for every time of the day, comforting rice, rotis and dosas, and fresh and crunchy sambols. And then it tucks you with thoughts of travel and adventure. One of the best books of the year.
